Linnet

Terms of Use

In short

1. Agreement

Linnet (“the App”) is an iOS app that writes serial fiction with artificial intelligence, chapter by chapter, from your ideas and choices, and can read it aloud. These terms are an agreement between you and Fabian Schneider (“I”, “me”), the developer of Linnet, not with Apple. By creating an account or using the App you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.

The Privacy Policy and the AI terms are part of how Linnet works and should be read with these terms.

2. You must be 18 or older

Linnet is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the App. Sagas are fiction for adults and may contain violence, crime, death, distress, sexual content and other mature themes, as described in the AI terms. Violence is never prolonged, gratuitous or sadistic, whatever you write into a saga.

3. Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your Apple or Google sign-in secure. Your sagas, the books you unlock and your membership belong to your Linnet account, so sign in with the same account on each device.

You can delete your account at any time in the App under Settings → Delete account. This deletes every saga, chapter and narration, and the books you have unlocked. It does not cancel an App Store subscription: cancel that in your Apple Account settings (section 7.3).

4. How Linnet works

You give Linnet an idea. It writes a pitch, which you can edit or have rewritten. When you begin, it writes a prologue and the first chapter, and then one chapter at a time; some chapters end with a choice that steers the next. A saga is divided into books. How many chapters a book has depends on the saga.

Writing a chapter can take several minutes, and sometimes it fails; you can then try again. To keep Linnet running and affordable, each account has daily limits on how much can be written and narrated. If you reach one, you can continue the next day.

Linnet is new. Its features may change, and it depends on services run by others (section 12), so it may at times be unavailable.

5. Intimacy settings

Each saga has two intimacy settings, which the pitch suggests and you can change before you begin: how often intimacy happens (Rarely, Sometimes, Often) and how far it reaches the page (Closed door, Suggestive, Sensual). Closed door keeps intimacy off the page. Suggestive gives it a few lines, then white space. Sensual, the most there is, puts it on the page in literary language, never graphic.

These settings are a ceiling. What you write into a saga (your idea, notes, choices and answers) can ask for less, never for more.

The AI services Linnet uses have their own safety rules and may tone down or decline some scenes, whatever the setting.

6. Free chapters

Each account can read a number of chapters for free, across all its sagas. The App shows the current number. After that, a chapter needs its book unlocked or a membership with chapters left this month. A saga’s prologue is free and doesn’t count towards the free chapters. Narration comes with every chapter you can read, your free chapters included.

7. Purchases

All purchases in Linnet are in-app purchases through Apple’s App Store. You buy them from Apple, which handles the payment under its own terms. I never see your payment details. Prices are shown in the App before you buy, in the currency of your App Store country, as the App Store sets them.

7.1 Books. One one-time purchase, One book, unlocks one book of one saga: every chapter of it, to read and to listen to. Narration comes with every chapter you can read, also your free chapters and a membership’s.

In App Store terms these are consumable purchases: each purchase gives your Linnet account one credit for one book. If you buy at the point where a book needs unlocking, the credit is used on that book straight away. An unused credit stays on your account and is offered on the next book that needs one. An unlocked book stays unlocked for as long as your account exists.

7.2 Membership. Membership is an auto-renewable subscription, offered monthly (Membership, monthly) or yearly (Membership, yearly), at the price shown in the App before you subscribe. It includes a monthly allowance of new chapters in any saga, narration included; the App shows the numbers before you subscribe and in Settings.

7.3 Renewal and cancellation.

7.4 Restoring. Settings → Restore purchases connects an App Store membership to your Linnet account again, for example on a new device. A membership belongs to the Linnet account it was bought with and can’t be moved to a different Linnet account.

7.5 Refunds. Because Apple sells the purchases, refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. I can’t issue refunds myself. If Apple refunds a purchase, what it unlocked is locked again: a refunded book is locked, and a refunded membership ends.

If you are a consumer, your statutory rights for digital content and services, including any right of withdrawal, apply to your purchase from Apple as the law and Apple’s terms provide. Nothing in these terms limits them.

8. Your content and your sagas

What you write into Linnet stays yours: your ideas, edits, notes, answers and choices. You allow me to store and process it, which includes sending it to the AI services named in the AI terms, only to write, store and narrate your sagas for you. Don’t enter personal information about other real people, or content you have no right to use.

I don’t claim ownership of the sagas Linnet writes for you. To the extent I hold any rights in them, you may use your sagas for any lawful purpose. AI-written text may not be protected by copyright, and it may, by chance, resemble existing works, so I can’t promise that a saga is free of other people’s rights. You are responsible for how you use and share your sagas.

9. Acceptable use

Don’t use Linnet to:

If an account seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, I may suspend or close it.

10. AI-generated content

Every pitch, prologue, chapter and choice in a saga is written by AI, and all narration is synthetic speech. No person writes or checks a chapter before you read it. It can be wrong, inconsistent, biased or unexpected. It is fiction, not fact, and not advice of any kind. The AI terms explain this in full.

11. Licence

You are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not redistribute, rent or resell the App, or attempt to derive its source code, except where the law does not allow this restriction.

12. Services Linnet depends on

Linnet relies on other providers: Apple (sign-in, App Store), Google (sign-in, and Firebase for accounts, data and the server), Anthropic (writing) and OpenRouter with a speech model (narration). The Privacy Policy lists what each receives. You must comply with the third-party terms that apply when you use the App, in particular Apple’s.

13. Changes to Linnet and ending it

I may change, add or remove features. If I ever stop offering Linnet, I will announce it in the App in good time beforehand.

14. Maintenance and support

I alone am responsible for maintaining and supporting the App. Apple has no obligation to provide either. Support requests go to hello@awake-sagas.com.

15. Warranty and your statutory rights

Except for the rights the law gives you and which cannot be excluded, the App is provided “as is”. Nothing in these terms limits the statutory warranty and consumer rights you have under Austrian and European Union law; they apply in addition to these terms.

If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are my responsibility.

16. Liability

I am liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Austrian Product Liability Act. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, I am not liable for damage caused through slight negligence.

17. Claims

I, not Apple, am responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation, and any claim that the App or your possession and use of it infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights.

18. Legal compliance

You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo or that has been designated by the United States Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

19. Apple as third-party beneficiary

Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance of them Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

20. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms, for example when Linnet changes or the law requires it. The current version is always on this page, with its date. If a change affects you materially, I will point it out in the App before it takes effect.

21. Governing law

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings in the courts there.
